Although the attitude toward clothing is fairly liberal throughout the Emirates, a healthy amount of respect for local customs doesn’t go amiss when shopping or sightseeing. Short or tight clothing may be worn, but it will attract attention—most of it unwelcome.

Malls, health clubs and resort facilities are generally more accepting, but when visiting government offices it is best to cover your shoulders and legs. It is recommended that you dress more conservatively during Ramadan.

Ground Transportation

Abu Dhabi International Airport

Taking the air-conditioned bus to and from the airport and Abu Dhabi city is economical and comfortable.

Look out for the green and white A1 bus. Buses depart from:

  • The lower curbside outside Terminals 1 and 3 and outside Terminal 2
  • The Cargo Building
  • The Police Complex

All bus stops are clearly indicated with blue and white signs.

Route: The bus runs from the three terminals and stops at all legal bus stops going into the city. It passes by the Bus Stand at Muroor and Street 11 and terminates at the Old Fish Market on Al Nasr Street (near NYU Abu Dhabi).

  • Service A1: Al Zahiyah City Air Terminal – Abu Dhabi International Airport Terminals 1 & 2
  • Service 490: Abu Dhabi Int’l Airport Terminal 1 & 2 – Al Ain Bus Station
  • Service 211: Mussafah Dalam Mall – Abu Dhabi Airport Terminal 1 – Al Rahba Hospital
  • Service 240: Al Wathba Worker City – Abu Dhabi Airport Terminal 1 – Al Rahba Hospital
  • Service X81: Ruwais ADNOC Bus Station – Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH)

Timing: Every 40 minutes, 24 hours a day

Transfer time: Travel time to the city is approximately 45 minutes, depending on traffic

A block of rooms at the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers have been reserved at a special rate for this conference. The last day to reserve rooms at the group rate is 29 October 2020 or until the room block is sold out. Visa Information

Citizens of Australia, Andorra, Austria, Brunei, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States of America and the Vatican State can get a free-of-charge entry visa upon arrival at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

GCC citizens do not need a visa to enter the UAE.

Citizens of all other countries will need to apply for a Tourist, Transit or Visit Visa prior to their trip.

Abu Dhabi has a sub-tropical, arid climate. Sunny blue skies and high temperatures can be expected most of the year. During the cooler months, November through April, temperatures are around 24C (75F) during the day and 13C (56F) at night.




Business attire is suitable for all conference sessions and receptions. For the pre-conference workshops, business casual is appropriate. Conference Centre room temperatures can be on the cooler side, so we recommend dressing with this in mind.

Fees and Payment Policy

The fee for attending the conference is outlined on the pricing section. This registration fee includes breakfast, lunch and refreshments, and access to presentation materials (pdf only).

You will be invoiced for the conference (and where appropriate, workshop) fees within one week of registering online, and payment is due within 30 days of receipt of invoice. If registering within 30 days of the conference, payment is due immediately upon receipt of invoice.

If registering with an early bird discount rate, or any special rates, payment must be submitted by the discount expiration date.

If payment has not been received prior to the event, a credit card guarantee will be required at the onsite registration desk to facilitate entry to the conference.

Credit card payment is the preferred payment method onsite. Please be advised that cash payments will only be accepted in the form of UAE Dirhams in the exact amount. Please note that change will not be available.

Public Sector Pricing

ACAMS is proud to be a community of private and public sector industry professionals. In order to facilitate wider participation in our events, and in keeping with most ACAMS programmes, we offer special rates for public sector delegates.

Representatives of the following types of organisation are eligible for these preferential rates:

  • Government and public organisations (at federal, regional and local levels) including central banks, state regulators, FIUs, law enforcement and military

Public Sector attendees are eligible for a reduced price from only $1,095, which includes two free pre-conference training workshops – places to the workshops are limited and must be booked in advance.

If attendees register at the public sector rate and are not eligible for preferential rates we will invoice the difference.

Will there be safety measures at the MENA conference?
The safety of our community, including our participants, speakers, sponsors and employees are our priority, as such we are closely following the advice of local health and Government authorities.

What happens if I can’t travel to the MENA conference?

At ACAMS we want you to be able to book with confidence.

If the event, cannot proceed as planned due to local health and government authority guidance, we will hold a virtual conference.

If the event is taking place as planned and you cannot travel to Abu Dhabi, because of a travel ban in the country you live in, we would be happy to either transfer your ticket to another person or issue you with ACAMS credit.

Name Badges

You will be asked to present photo ID before being issued with a conference badge onsite. It is very important to wear your badge during the conference as entrance to all sessions, the exhibition hall, and networking receptions is by badge only. There is a US$50 replacement charge for lost badges, payable at the registration desk. Conference badges are not transferable and must not be shared.


Registrations and attendance at, or participation in this conference constitutes an agreement by the registrant to ACAMS’ use and distribution (both now and in the future) of the registrant or attendee’s image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes.

Dietary Requirements

If you have any special dietary requirements, please email with specifics, at least 30 days before the start of the event. Our team will do their best to accommodate these requests, however requests received less than 30 days before the conference cannot be guaranteed.

Special Services

Substitution and Cancellation

Cancellations received up to 5 November 2020 will receive a full refund minus a US$250 administration fee. Cancellations received 6 November – 2 December 2020 will be issued a credit voucher to be used towards next year’s conference. Cancellations received on or after 3 December 2020 will not be refunded.

Substitutions of registered attendees must be submitted in writing to by 12:00 PM (CET) on Wednesday, 2 December 2020. Please note that if the transfer is made from an ACAMS member to a non-ACAMS member, you will be charged the difference in cost. If you neither attend the conference nor designate a substitute prior to the event, you are still responsible for the full registration fee. Requests submitted after the eligible time-frame will not be considered.

If for any reason ACAMS cancels or reschedules the conference, we do not accept responsibility for airfare, hotel or other costs incurred by registrants.


Certificate of Participation

Certificates will be emailed two weeks after the end of the conference (in pdf). ACAMS members will automatically have ACAMS credits added to their member profile.

Continuing Education Credits

ACAMS Credits

ACAMS members automatically receive up to 17 ACAMS credits for attending this event; 11 credits for the main conference and 3 credits for each pre-conference workshop. Additional continuing education credits may also be available from other organisations; please contact your accrediting body directly to enquire.

Session Materials

Attendees will receive a link to the online conference materials prior to the event. Please note that materials will be available online only (and through the conference app). If you would like to reference printed materials during the sessions, we suggest you print these before coming to the conference as business center facilities onsite will be limited. Updated conference materials will also be available online after the conference.
